The Rochester Americans (14-9-2-1) remain a top team in the North Division after gathering three out of a possible four points on the week, extending the team’s current point streak to a season-long six straight games.
The Amerks came out buzzing in Belleville Wednesday, dominating the Senators in a 6-1 thrashing north of the border that concluded a three-game road trip. The team was then Flower City-bound for the beginning of a four-game homestand that started Saturday, where solid goaltending aided the red, white, and blue in their retrieval of a standings point in an eventual 2-1 shootout loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Here are some takeaways from the week that was.
LEVI RETURNING TO FORM
After facing some adversity early on to begin the season, third-year pro Devon Levi may be starting to turn the corner. The 23-year-old stopped 75 shots over his two starts last week, allowing a single goal in each game.
On Saturday against the Phantoms, Levi would go on to turn away seven of eight shooters for the Phantoms in the shootout and helped the Amerks get a point in a game where they were outshot, 40-26.
Levi has taken the crease for 17 of Rochester’s 26 games played to begin the season. The AHL All-Star from a season ago is tops in the Eastern Conference in minutes played at 1012:21 and tied for first in the East with 10 wins. Levi is second overall in the AHL for minutes played, games played, and shots faced.
The Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, native continues to dominate on the road as he has throughout his AHL journey. Over three seasons as an Amerk, Levi yields a 27-7-4 record away from home.
THREE’S COMPANY
Wednesday’s 6-1 win over Belleville was littered with trifectas for Rochester. Forwards Noah Östlund, who has since rejoined the Buffalo Sabres, Konsta Helenius, and Riley Fiddler-Schultz all recorded three points with each player scoring a goal to go with two assists.
Additionally, the Amerks scored three goals on the power-play for the first time in a game this season to help the team maintain the top ranked power-play in the conference at 26.5%. The game also marked the end of a three-game road trip in which the Amerks earned points in all three tilts.
It was the third game in the season series against Belleville, with all three games having occurred on Wednesdays. Levi made his third start of the season against the Sens.
GET TO THE POINT
By going past regulation in Saturday’s 2-1 shootout loss to the Phantoms, the Amerks now have points in six consecutive games, boasting a 3-0-2-1 mark since Nov. 28 against Syracuse.
Rochester remains a top-three team in the North Division as they have for the bulk of the 2025-26 season to date. They are five or more standings points ahead of the teams beneath them in the division. Rochester also leads the division in goals for with 89.
Wednesday will see the Amerks have a chance to tie last season’s year best seven-game point streak.
COMING UP NEXT
Rochester’s homestand continues as they embark on a stretch of 14 straight games against North Division opponents. It begins with the Amerks slated to face a pair of struggling teams in the form of Utica and Belleville.
The Comets make their way to town first on Wednesday in meeting four of 10 on the season series, while the Senators and Amerks meet for the second time in nine days Friday night. Following that tilt, Rochester will be off for a season long-eight days for the annual Christmas break before returning to play Dec. 27 against Cleveland to wrap up the homestand.
