SIX SKATERS NOTCH MULTI-POINT EFFORTS IN 6-3 WIN FOR PITTSFORD
Dec 17, 2025For the next several months, the Rochester Americans will be front and center of the local high school hockey scene as part of a weekly series that features the latest news and notes, scores and stats of select Section V games around the Greater Rochester Area.
Six different skaters notched multi-point efforts in a 6-3 victory for the Pittsford Panthers (7-0-1) over the Portside Royals (0-5-1) at Tim Horton’s Iceplex on Tuesday night.
With the victory, the Panthers, who have won four straight following a 4-4 tie back on Dec. 9, have begun the 2025-26 slate with a 7-0-1 mark.
David Pollard (0+3), Ryan Schmalstitch (2+0), Charles Hezel (1+1), Peter Yarovinsky (1+1), Evan Weiner (1+1), and Ryan Muzinger (0+2) all tallied two points apiece for Pittsford. Adam Pollard (1+0), Simon George (0+1), who was named Player of the Game, and Casey Reagan (0+1) rounded out the scoring while goaltender David Jones made 12 saves to earn the win.
Wyatt Pentz (2+0) and Andrew Lamberton (0+2) both tallied a pair of points for Portside. Zachary Haines (1+0) and Luke LaForce (0+1) contributed a point while netminder Zachary Miceli stopped 39 of the 45 shots he faced.
Pittsford opened the contest with first of four goals via Yarovinsky’s unassisted goal just 2:06 into the game.
After drawing an interference infraction with just under 12 minutes to go, the Panthers doubled their lead as Schmalstich banged in Weiner and Wehrhiem’s passes. Adam Pollard then made it a 3-0 score as he fired a shot from the slot from George and Regan 2:33 later.
The two clubs were each called for a penalty with 4:05 remaining in the first period. Near the end of the consequential infractions, Weiner grabbed a loose puck in front of the goal crease and buried his second of the stanza from Hezel prior to make it 4-0 lead at the break.
Trailing to start the second period, Portside drew an interference penalty but were unable to find any success. The Royals then were whistled for a hold and despite skating down a skater, Haines finished off a feed from Lamberton 30 seconds later.
The Royals continued to use the special team’s unit to their advantage as the club capitalized on the man advantage as Pentz sniped the top corner with 6:43 left in the period.
To close out its three-goal run on five shots, Portside cut the deficit to one as Pentz was setup by Lamberton and LaForce at the 15:45 mark.
While Pittsford saw the Royals make it a one-score game as well taking a penalty early in the final period of regulation, they drew two penalties to gain a power play.
The Panthers were unable to score while on a 4-on-3, but they found success as they had two extra skaters when David Pollard provided a feed for Hezel with 12:10 left in the game.
Portside tried to make it a one-score game yet again later in the frame as they had a final push, however Schmalstich and Munzinger put an end to any thoughts of a potential comeback in the final minute.
Pittsford will aim to maintain its unbeaten streak as they welcome Lancaster on Friday, Dec. 19 at the Tim Horton’s Iceplex for a 6:00 p.m. matchup. Portside looks for its first victory of the campaign as they host Batavia Notre Dame with a 7:30 contest at Tuttle Ice on Thursday, Dec. 18.
