HAT TRICKS AND HISTORY HIGHLIGHT AMERKS REPORT CARD FOR FEBRUARY

Amerks honor their past as 70th anniversary season rolls on

Mar 2, 2026

While the NHL was on pause for much of February due to the Olympic break, the Rochester Americans (24-19-5-3) continued navigating through their 70th season with a nine-game slate, going 3-4-1-1.

While the Amerks faced their most adverse month of the season to date, the team was still able to celebrate several moments throughout February.

HONORING THE PAST: A+

The Amerks are the second-oldest franchise in the AHL, aging like a fine wine as the team’s history grows richer and richer.

On Feb. 20, the Amerks hosted 90’s night, going back in time to wear the much-celebrated stars and stripes inspired jerseys from one of the more dominant eras in Amerks hockey that culminated with a Calder Cup championship in 1996.

For the first time since, the AHL’s grandest prize was displayed in the building for fans to take photos beside, as were opportunities to interact with three members from the 1995-96 roster. Amerks Hall of Famer Jody Gage was accompanied by forwards Dixon Ward and Wayne Primeau, who went on to experience years of success in the NHL after hoisting the Calder Cup as Amerks in the summer of ’96.

A week after 90’s Night, the team celebrated the life of another member of that Calder Cup winning team in fan-favorite Scott Metcalfe, who sadly passed away last year at 58 years old. Metcalfe, like Gage, is an Amerks Hall of Famer and the team’s all-time leader in penalty minutes with 1,424 over 499 games in the red, white, and blue.

BRING YOUR HATS HOME: A

February started out with a bang as the Amerks scored hat tricks in back-to-back home games at Blue Cross Arena on Feb. 6 and 15, respectively. To start, it was team-leading goal-scorer Isak Rosén posting a natural hat trick by early into the second period against the Springfield Thunderbirds. Rosén’s hat trick was his second in an eight-game span as the Swedish sniper leads Rochester entering next month with 25 goals on the season, tied for third most in the AHL.

Nine days later, it was Riley Fiddler-Schultz celebrating his first career hat trick as a pro, getting his third of the night with only 20 seconds to spare in the game against Utica. The third-year pro is on a terrific run, scoring 13 goals and banking 21 points over his last 27 games. With 17 goals on the season, Fiddler-Schultz trails only Rosén in scoring for Rochester while continuing to be the team’s ironman by skating in every game the Amerks have played this season.

THE STARS ALIGN: A

Rosén’s efforts were recognized, as were that of his teammates Konsta Helenius and Zac Jones who all traveled to Rockford, Illinois to represent Rochester at the 2026 AHL All-Star Classic. The trio of Amerks are the top three point producers for the team, with Jones ranking atop the group despite being a defenseman.

Jones ended February leading AHL defensemen with 45 points (7+38), notching a goal and eight points over his nine games played in the month. It’s a career season for the fifth-year pro whose next game will be his 150th in the league.

Helenius has 39 points (13+26), standing as the second-highest scoring teenager in the AHL this season. The 19-year-old also leads Rochester with four game-winning-goals this season. Helenius operated at a point-per-game pace in February with four goals and five assists.

MARCH SYLLABUS

The final full month of the regular season gets going on the road for the Amerks, who open March with a three-game swing away from the Flower City. The action begins with a game in Syracuse before facing Laval again on back-to-back nights north of the border.

Rochester will play another pair of games against a Canadian adversary the following week as they face the Toronto Marlies in a home-and-home. Overall, the Amerks play 11 games in March, with seven coming against Syracuse (4) and Toronto (3) alone.
