GAME SUMMARY PHOTO GALLERY POST-GAME REPORT
The regulation loss marked Rochester’s first to Cleveland since Nov. 27, 2024, after coming into the matchup having won eight of the last nine meetings with the Monsters dating back to last season.
Forward Jake Leschyshyn tallied his eighth goal of the campaign – and team-leading fifth on the power-play – while Zac Jones and Isak Rosén both notched an assist. Jones tops all AHL blueliners this season with 17 helpers while Rosén has seven points (2+5) over his last five games in the AHL.
Levi (8-4-0) finished with 37 saves, his most in a regular season contest since March 15, 2024 (41). The Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, native is tied for the league-lead with eight wins.
Corson Ceulemans factored in on Cleveland’s first two goals (1+1), including scoring the game-winner, while Luca Del Bel Belluz (0+2) also assisted on a pair of goals to complete the scoring for the Monsters, who have won back-to-back games for the second time this season. Goaltender Ivan Fedotov (4-4-2) made 25 saves in his 10th appearance.
FIRST PERIOD
In the opening half of the frame, neither of the clubs were able to capitalize on the man-advantage. Rochester had a few chances on its lone opportunity but was unable to register any shots whereas Levi made a handful of stops on Cleveland’s power-plays.
The Monsters maintained much of the pace of play as they held an 8-2 shot advantage, but after a pair of heavy hits from Mason Geersten and Brendan Warren, the momentum seemed even as the clubs finished the period scoreless.
Levi, who was the busier netminder in the stanza, concluded the first 20 minutes with 14 saves compared to Fedotov’s seven.
SECOND PERIOD
Midway through the middle frame with Cleveland holding a 22-8 shot advantage, the visitors got on the board first as Tate Singleton began a play inside his own zone.
The forward trade a pass with former Sabre Will Butcher before darting up the ice through the neutral zone. As Singleton retrieved Ceulemans’s feed, he carried it into the offensive zone and took advantage of a screen provided by Hunter McKown before wiring his first goal of the season at the 8:39 mark.
The Amerks pushed back despite being heavily outshot, as Geertsen drew an interference call against the Monsters five minutes later.
On the ensuing shift, Rosén kept the puck inside the offensive zone before he traded a quick pass with Jones atop the blueline. As bodies converged towards the front of Cleveland’s net, Jones fired a shot that made its way through the screens and Leschyshyn deposited the rebound to even the score at 1-1.
The game remained tied until the final 90 seconds of the period when Del Bel Belluz skated to the left of Levi and attempted a between-the-legs shot. The Amerks netminder made the save but the rebound kicked to his right for Ceulemans to backhand into the cage for his first of the season.
THIRD PERIOD
The game remained a 2-1 score until late in the final minute of play when Mikael Pyyhtiä capped off the scoring on an empty-netter.
