AMERKS RELYING ON DEPTH TO PRODUCE RESULTS

Winning is fun, especially when everyone contributes to it.

“That was something I was really happy to see is the depth of scoring. All four lines had goals,” commented Rochester Americans head coach Seth Appert after last night’s 7-2 win over the Syracuse Crunch.

Seven goals. Seven different goal-scorers. Every line contributing.

“The pace was very good. We want to be a fast team. We want to be a fast organization. That's something that Donny (Granato) preaches, that I preach,” continued Appert when discussing the pace of last night’s game. “Fast isn’t just how you skate. It's the predictability of what we're doing with the puck. If all five guys are on the same page, it allows you to play fast and the decision making needs to be fast.”

While everything seemed to be firing on all cylinders offensively last night, the best part of the Amerks 7-2 outcome was that all but one of Rochester’s seven tallies came five-on-five. Something that Appert and his staff have been harping on from the beginning of the season.

“I think, all four lines scored five-on-five goals, something we've really been working on in practice and video is working with the young forwards about scoring five-on-five and the price that you have to pay to score.”

Here’s a look at last night’s lines against Syracuse:

#45 Brendan Warren – #26 Mason Jobst – #96 Anders Bjork

#18 Isak Rosen – #15 Riley Sheahan – #25 Jiri Kulich

#11 Lukas Rousek – #10 Brandon Biro – #13 Linus Weissbach

#81 Brett Murray – #44 Tyson Kozak – #71 Filip Cederqvist

Now, here’s a look at last night’s goal scorers:

Kulich (1st period: power-play)

Bartkowski (1st period: five-on-five)

Warren (2nd period: five-on-five)

Weissbach (2nd period: five-on-five)

Biro (2nd period: five-on-five)

Murray (3rd period: five-on-five)

Jobst (3rd period: five-on-five)

“Five-on-five goals are difficult, so that was really good to see that all lines contributed.”

Appert then finished with, “We got some really nice line rush goals, but we got some greasy, net-front, screen-tipped, rebound type goals. All those things are very important to see.”

If last night proved anything for the Amerks it’s that there’s a whole lot of depth in the organization, something that is already really exciting to watch just four weeks into the 2022-23 campaign.

The Amerks begin a home-and-home series with the Utica Comets on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. All the action will be carried live on 95.7 FM/950 AM The Fan Rochester as well as AHLTV.
