2025 has come and gone for the Rochester Americans (16-10-3-1) as the team nears the midway point of its historic 70th season after a productive final month of the calendar year.

A 4-1-3-1 record in the month of December saw Rochester bank points in all but one of its games, thanks in large part to one of the team’s top point producers over the last several seasons, along with an All-Star in goal.

Let’s dive into the final report card of 2025.

RELENTLESS ROSEN: A+

Simply put: it’s been a December to remember for forward Isak Rosén, who has made playing in the AHL look easy. The fourth-year Amerk has only spent half the season in the Flower City, but when he’s here, he dominates.

Rosén, 22, is amid a career-best 12-game point streak, amassing 10 goals and 17 points in that span. He has found the scoresheet in all but one of his 16 games played for Rochester this season and his 1.44 points-per-game leads the AHL’s Eastern Conference.

The Sabres’ prospect appeared in six games for the Amerks in the month of December, logging seven goals and two assists. Three of his conversions came on the power-play, and on Dec. 19, Rosén netted the overtime winner on home ice against Belleville. Earlier in the game, he scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal as well.

When called upon by Buffalo, the Stockholm, Sweden, native has tallied seven points (3+4) over 13 games this season.

PROVING A POINT: B+

With points in eight of nine outings, the Amerks secured a tie for second place in the North Division as they enter the new year. Perhaps the biggest show of resilience came at the start of the month on Dec. 3 when Rochester trailed Utica, 3-0. The team roared back for a trio of their own to force overtime and secure their first standings point of the month.

Rochester’s win over Belleville Dec. 19 saw them trail by a goal early in the third period before evening the score halfway through to set up Rosén to perform the overtime heroics.

In the final game of 2025, the Amerks had to fight off adversity in Cleveland after the Monsters had tied the game in the final minute of regulation. Jack Rathbone was able to ensure the extra point would go to the red, white, and blue with his OT magic.

Overall, the Amerks obtained 12 out of a possible 18 points in December.

PULLING THE HAUL: B+

Devon Levi handled the bulk of the work for the Amerks last month, starting seven of nine games the team had played. While the record (2-1-4) doesn’t pop the radar, Levi made 35 or more saves in four of his seven starts. The Quebec native celebrated his 24th birthday near the end of December and is currently a leader in multiple categories.

The third-year Amerk is first in the AHL for minutes played at nearly 1,200, having started 20 of Rochester’s 30 games this season. Levi’s quantity of starts ranks first in the Eastern Conference, as does his 540 saves on the season. Levi is one of five goaltenders with more than 10 wins entering the new year, displaying an 11-5-4 mark on the 2025-26 campaign.

JANUARY SYLLABUS

The new year starts with a busy month for the Amerks, who will play a dozen games in January to match November for their highest number of games in a single month this season. It’s a slew of repeat opponents, with Rochester facing Syracuse, Belleville, Utica, and Hershey multiple times in the month, including three contests against the Crunch alone.

Six of the Amerks first eight games in January are played on the road, beginning Saturday in Toronto. The back half of the month will kick-off a season-long six-game homestand that runs from Jan. 23-Feb. 6.

Rochester’s first 10 games in 2026 are against North Division opponents.
