SABRES USE THIRD FIRST-ROUND PICK TO SELECT KULICH 28TH OVERALL

The Buffalo Sabres have selected center Jiri Kulich with the 28th-overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

With Karlov Vary in Czechia's top professional league, he recorded 14 points (9+15) in 49 games played, more points than any junior-aged player in the league.

The 5-foot-11, 178-pound native of Kadan, Czechia was ranked 13th by NHL Central Scouting among European-based skaters.  

He served as the captain of Czechia in the 2022 U18 World Championship where he was named MVP of the tournament after leading all players in goals. He also served as captain for Czechia at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Earlier in the first round, Buffalo selected Winnipeg ICE center Matt Savoie with the ninth-overall pick and Djurgarden Jr. center Noah Ostlund with the 16th overall.
