HONORING THE FRONTLINE PRESENTED BY HONDA | STACY FERRERA, PA

Apr 12, 2021

This season, we're recognizing the local healthcare workers and first responders on the frontlines against the COVID-19 pandemic as part of a new season-long segment called Honoring the Frontline presented by Honda.

This week, we honor Stacy Ferrera, a Physician’s Assistant in the Department of Surgery at Highland Hospital.

Ferrera returned to Highland in June of 2020 in time to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic after spending five years in a similar role in the Intensive Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Ferrera and her team in the Department of Surgery have seen their fair share of COVID patients, specifically those that developed thoracic complications from the virus.

She’s been there every step of the way, providing highly specialized and integrative care and treatment to those who need it the most while also providing comfort to patients and their families during these unprecedented times. Due to the ever-changing climate of the pandemic along with patient needs and guidelines, adaptability and versatility became regular themes for Ferrera, who on more than one occasion was forced to go above and beyond to maintain a high level of quality care.

Her attentiveness and dedication to her patients is the trademark of her craft and the very reason why she has been able to lead so many to recovery while keeping other patients and staff safe from the virus. It is this ideal that also affirms her belief of how truly vital Physicians’ Assistants are to the overall healthcare system.

A lifelong Rochester resident and graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Ferrera’s pursuit of a career in healthcare is a direct result of her life’s passion of helping others and striving to make a difference in the lives of her patients. She claims entering the medical field was her calling and attributes the daily interaction with her patients and being part of their journey as the most rewarding aspect.

The Rochester Americans and Upstate Honda Dealers thank Stacy Ferrera and all others First Responders and Frontline Workers for their service.
