HONORING THE FRONTLINE PRESENTED BY HONDA | ACUTE STROKE UNIT AT ROCHESTER GENERAL HOSPITAL

Mar 10, 2021

This season, we're recognizing the local healthcare workers and first responders on the frontlines against the COVID-19 pandemic as part of a new season-long segment called Honoring the Frontline presented by Honda.

This week we honor Rochester General Hospital's Acute Stroke Unit (7800).

This devoted team provides life-saving care to patients in their first hours after having a stroke before helping them begin on their road to recovery.

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses recognized this unit with a Silver Beacon award, which signifies exceptional care and satisfaction.

The Stroke Unit on 7800 is a key part of the Comprehensive Stroke Program at Rochester General Hospital. Together, they earned the Healthgrades 100 Best Stroke Care Award five years in a row, and they are ranked among the top 1% in the nation for stroke care.

Throughout the pandemic, this amazing team has supported each other like a family. They continue to provide exceptional care for some of the most vulnerable patients in the hospital. They remain committed to their patients, the community, and each other.

One new graduate nurse stated: “Becoming a nurse during a global pandemic has provided me with invaluable experiences that I will keep with me for the rest of my career. I have a greater overall appreciation for life, and my new friends from the stroke unit have been the best support system I could ask for during this unprecedented time.”

While another nurse said: “I became a nurse because there is so much room for growth and several opportunities to advance both personally and professionally in this career.”

The Rochester Americans and Upstate Honda Dealers want to thank Rochester General Hospital’s Acute Stroke Unit and all others First Responders and Frontline Workers for their service.
