HIGH SCHOOL GAME OF THE WEEK: VICTOR CENTRAL VS. CHURCHVILLE-CHILI

For the next several months, the Rochester Americans will be front and center of the local high school hockey scene as part of a weekly series that features the latest news and notes, scores and stats of select Section V games around the Greater Rochester Area. 

The High School Game of the Week includes the Victor Central Blue Devils (10-6-1) facing the Churchville-Chili Saints (3-15-1) on Tuesday, February 10 for a 5:00 p.m. puck drop at The Blue Cross Arena.

VenuWorks, who manages and operates The Blue Cross Arena, will have the dippin dot stand open on the Exchange side of the building for beverages and snacks to be purchased.

Since the start of 2026, Victor Central has won six of its first 10 contests which also includes a 5-5 tie on February 3. With 10 wins going into their final two games of the slate, the Blue Devils have recorded double digits in wins in seven of their last eight seasons dating back to the 2016-17 slate.

Victor Central has won four of the last five meetings against Churchville-Chili, which includes a pair of shutouts. In last season’s meeting between the club programs, the Blue Devils scored two goals in each the first and third periods while adding three in the middle frame for a 7-0 victory. Victor Central went 2-for-3 on the man advantage while successfully clearing off three of its penalties. The Blue Devils also held a 37-14 shot-advantage.

Through 17 games this season, 12 different Blue Devils skaters have found the back of the net while 17 have notched at least one point. Jack Abbott has a team-leading 17 goals and 28 points whereas Oliver Kowal ranks first with 13 assists. Abbott and Kowal have each reached the 20-point mark while Brennen Paskins (14), Eli Weingart (14), Joey Hellinger (13), and AJ Finocchario (10) all have logged double digits, respectively.

Colin Schoeneman (4), Carson Decker (3), AJ Bielecki (2), Kelton Everett (1), and Byrce Premo (1) all conclude the goalscorers for Victor Central.

Goaltender Kijo Smith has shouldered nearly all the goaltending duties as he shows an 9-6-1 mark in 16 appearances. Carson Janto (1-0-0) has appeared in four games, making 36 saves and earning one win. Jackson Renelt has yet to make his season debut for Victor Central.

Michael Ferreri is the head coach while Trevor Sousa, Jason Rich and Brian Bailey are serving as assistants. Kevin Atkinson is the athletic trainer for the Blue Devils.

The Saints, who are looking for back-to-back wins following this past Saturday’s 6-3 victory over Canandaigua Academy. A win tonight would be the first time the program has picked up two consecutive since the start of the 2024-25 campaign as they won three straight.

Dating back to Dec. 13, the Saints have gone 1-12-0 while being outscored 55-31 over that same span. On the season, Churchville-Chili has been held to three or fewer goals in 14 of its 18 games but totaled a season-high six markers on Saturday’s win over the Braves.

Entering Tuesday’s contest, five different Saints had posted double digits in points led by Brody Gallagher’s 22 whereas Cooper Lass and Grayson Galliford and Gallagher have a team-leading 11 goals and 13 assists, respectively. Anthony Indiano (17) and Evan Girolamo (14) have also reached the 10-plus point-plateau.

Joseph Pellegrino (3), Connor Moyer (2), Grady Galliford (1), Joseph Giardino (1), Michael Fedele (1), Luca Reitano (1), and Samuel Coccia (1) have scored this season for Churchville-Chili.

Netminders Liam Magri (2-8-0) and Joshua Felluca (1-5-0) both have earned at least one win in the goal crease for the Saints while Caleb Paitek (0-2-0) made 62 saves in five appearances. Kenneth Aloi has yet to make his season debut.

Brian Young and Austin Kuntz are co-head coaches of Churchville-Chili while James Wisner and Anthony Depetres are serving as assistants. Kid Toombs is the equipment manager.
