HIGH SCHOOL GAME OF THE WEEK: GREECE VS. FAIRPORT
Jan 13, 2026For the next several months, the Rochester Americans will be front and center of the local high school hockey scene as part of a weekly series that features the latest news and notes, scores and stats of select Section V games around the Greater Rochester Area.
The High School Game of the Week includes the Greece Storm (3-8-1) facing the Fairport Red Raiders (3-4-1) on Tuesday, January 13 for a 7:15 p.m. puck drop at Rochester Ice Center.
The Storm, who are looking for their first winning season since 2022-23 (11-9-0) after finishing with a 9-10-1 and 7-13-0 mark each of the last two years, respectively, enter Tuesday with the fewest goals amongst all Section V teams. Greece is winless over its last four (0-2-1) games dating back to December 19, 2025.
Through 12 games this season, 12 different Greece skaters have found the back of the net while 13 have notched at least one point.
Chase Benham (15), Trever Griffin (11), and Alex Rink (10) all have totaled double figures in points while Benham tops the club in goals (8) and Rink leads the team in assists (8). Wyatt Pilgrim and James Wattie each have recorded three tallies while Noah Hennigan, Noah Guntrum, Gaborik Monks, Brandan Delaney, Mitchell Barnes, and Ben Morgan have one. Azare Carstairs is the final goal scorer for Greece.
Goaltender Stratos Triantafilou has shouldered nearly all the goaltending duties as he shows a 3-6-1 mark in 10 appearances whereas Ryan Corey (0-2-0) has skated in three games, making 54 saves. Christian Colon has yet to make his season debut for Greece.
Sam DiBitetto is the head coach of Greece while Jared Smith and Nick Goodman are serving as assistants.
After posting a double digit in wins in 2016-17 and 2017-18, Fairport has only posted 10-plus victories twice over the last eight years, which includes a 16-3-0 record in 2019-20. The Red Raiders, who have played in eight games so far this season, will conclude the slate with 10 games over the next 32 days.
Grant Ralston and Jack Gosiewski both have scored a team-leading five goals while Ralston, and Corey Rene each show five helpers. Ralston is the only Red Raider with 10-plus points while Corey (9), Gosiewski, Garrett Martin (8) and Marc Hillier (7) are past the halfway mark. Thomas Pane and Colton Shufelt have registered a pair of tallies.
The Braves have used the goaltending trio of Blake Nelson (3-1-0), Cameron McClenin (2-1-0) and Dominic DiCiaccio (1-0-0) through eight games. Nelson has made 132 saves in four appearances whereas McClenin (97) and DiCiaccio (26) in three and two games, respectively.
Head coach Chris Moretter is the head coach of Fairport while Jimmy DiLiberto and Nick Pierandri are assistants.
