Feb 7, 2023

For the last three months, the Rochester Americans have been front and center of the local high school hockey scene as part of a weekly series featuring the latest news and notes, scores and stats of select Section V games around the Greater Rochester Area.

The final High School Game of the Week pits the Canandaigua Academy Braves (3-12-2) facing off with Churchville-Chili Saints (14-3-2) Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Greater Canandaigua Civic Center.

Churchville-Chili enters the contest having won three of its last four games and nine of its last 11 contests since Dec. 28. The Saints, who sit atop the MCPSAC Division 2 standings with a 14-3-2 overall record, already earned a 5-3 victory over Canandaigua Academy earlier this season. Following tonight, the Saints will conclude their regular season when they host Victor on Saturday, Feb. 11.

With five of the top six scorers in all of Division 2, including the top scorer in all of Section V, the Saints offense has produced 89 goals this season, which is nearly double of the next closest team.

Parker Franham paces the club in both goals (25) and points (47) while Max McKay has a team-high 28 assists to go with 16 goals. Brothers Tyler Eberhart (13+15) and Trey Eberhart (11+16) along with Gavin Carr (5+21) and Jesse Prue (3+7) all have reached double digits in points this season.

Tristian Harris (12-3-1) has handled much of the goaltending duties this season as he appeared in 16 games while Liam Magri and Cole Wilson each have appeared in two and three games, respectively.

Following a 2-2-1 start to the season, Canandaigua Academy has gone 1-11-1 over the last 13 games. Including tonight’s tilt with the Saints, the Braves, who show a 1-5-2 record on home ice, will close out the 2022-23 campaign with a visit from the Greece Storm on Feb. 10.

Forward Josh Barnes leads the Braves offense as he has registered 20 assists and 26 points while DJ Spychalski has chipped in nine goals and nine assists for 18 points. Maddox Smith (7+6), Griffin Harvieux (5+6) and Jacob Benne (6+4) make up the other three Canandaigua skaters to record double digits in points.
