The Rochester Americans join the hockey community in mourning the loss of former Amerks forward Paul Rushforth, who passed away July 24 at the age of 52.

A former sixth-round pick (131st overall) of the Buffalo Sabres in 1992, Rushforth appeared in 32 games over parts of two seasons with the Amerks, recording 16 points (8+8) and 14 penalty minutes. He also appeared in three playoff contests for Rochester.

His 10-year professional career was spent playing in the AHL, WCHL and ECHL in North America before playing four seasons in England with the London Knights of the BISL.

After retiring from professional hockey following the 2002-03 season, Rushforth, a father of three, founded his own real estate company in Ottawa which he operated until his passing.

The entire Amerks organization extends its deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.
