The Rochester Americans are celebrating Youth Hockey Night presented by HIRE Hockey on Friday, Nov. 6 when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack at The Blue Cross Arena.

"Rochester has an incredible hockey community, and it's been a privilege to build HIRE Hockey alongside so many dedicated players and families,” said HIRE Hockey Founder and CEO Cameron Cook. “Partnering with the Rochester Americans for Youth Hockey is an opportunity to celebrate that community and the next generation of players who will carry the game forward. We're grateful to be a part of it.”

All Rochester area youth hockey players will receive a complimentary ticket to the game with additional discounted tickets available for family and friends. Local youth hockey organizations interested in attending the game can contact Jordan Balls at 585-286-9950 to take advantage of this exclusive offer.

Friday’s game will also feature an appearance by Amerks Hall of Famer Domenic Pittis, who was recently appointed the new general manager of the Rochester Jr. Americans, New York State’s largest youth hockey organization. Pittis will participate in the ceremonial puck-drop and will sign autographs during the first intermission in the Amerks Hall of Fame area.

Pittis, who was inducted into the Amerks Hall of Fame in 2020, returns to Rochester after one of the most decorated careers in Amerks franchise history. In 204 career games over parts of three seasons with the Amerks, he recorded 246 points on 75 goals and 171 assists, the latter of which rank 17th all-time in franchise history. He won the John B. Sollenberger Trophy as the league’s top scorer in the 1998-99 season after producing career-highs in goals (36), assists (66), and points (104) in his first season with Rochester.

Pittis was most impactful during the postseason, racking up an additional 70 points (16+54) in 57 playoff contests while leading the Amerks to back-to-back appearances in the Calder Cup Finals in 1999 and 2000. In Amerks all-time playoff history, he ranks first in assists (54), second in points (70), sixth on games played (57), and seventh in goals (16).

He played 86 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators over a 19-year playing career that also included two Swiss League championships. After retiring, Pittis served as a player development coach with the Calgary Flames and as an assistant coach with the former AHL Stockton Heat. Most recently, he was director of hockey for St. Mary’s High School, a college preparatory school in Stockton, California.

Friday’s festivities begin with a Pregame Happy Hour, presented by Genesee Brewery, before the game where fans 21 and older can enjoy $5 12-ounce beer specials at the Genesee Brew House at Blue Cross Arena (located at the top of the stairs in the main atrium) until puck drop.
