AMERKS AGREE TO TERMS WITH BORDELEAU, BOYKO
Pair ink one-year AHL contracts with Rochester for 2026-27 season
Sep 14, 2026Rochester Americans General Manager Stacy Roest announced today that the team has signed forward Thomas Bordeleau and goaltender Talyn Boyko to one-year American Hockey League contracts for the 2026-27 season.
Bordeleau, 24, joins the Amerks after splitting last season between the Springfield Thunderbirds and Utica Comets, totaling 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists in 60 combined games at the AHL level. Additionally, the Houston, Texas, native added five points (1+4) in nine Calder Cup Playoff games with the Thunderbirds.
Bordeleau has skated in 221 career AHL games with San Jose, Utica, and Springfield, notching 128 points (56+72) across five pro seasons. He’s also recorded one goal and four assists in nine playoff contests.
During the 2022-23 campaign, he posted a career-high 22 goals to go along with 41 points, which finished tied for first and second, respectively, amongst all Barracuda rookies. His 19 assists ranked seventh-most overall while his nine power-play tallies tied for first, earning him a selection to the named to the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic.
In 44 contests at the NHL level, all with the San Jose Sharks, Bordeleau has produced 18 points (6+12) since 2021-22.
Prior to turning pro, Bordeleau spent two years at the University of Michigan, posting 67 points (20+47) in 61 career games for the Wolverines. As a rookie during the 2020-21 campaign, he led the team and finished first amongst all NCAA rookies in the nation in scoring with 30 points despite only appearing in 24 games. He also finished with the best face-off win percentage in the Big Ten Conference and his plus-18 on-ice rating was the sixth-best in the league. Following his breakout season, Bordeleau was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors and was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He was also that year’s recipient of the Tim Taylor Award, presented annually to the most outstanding freshman in NCAA Division I hockey.
Bordeleau also spent two seasons at U.S. National Team Development Program, where he combined for 40 points (17+23) in 53 contests while splitting time with both the Under-17 and Under-18 teams.
Internationally, Bordeleau has represented the United States on three occasions, most recently in 2022 when he competed in both the World Championship and World Junior Championship of that year. He was also a member of Team USA at the 2018 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, when he recorded four assists in five games.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward was originally drafted in the second round (38th overall) by the Sharks in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Boyko, 23, comes to Rochester after posting a 9-6-5 record and one shutout in 21 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) and KalPa Kuopio (Liiga) in 2025-26. He also went 5-3-3 in 11 postseason contests with KalPa to go with a 2.26 goals-against-average and a .925 save percentage.
In 10 career games at the AHL level, all with Hartford, Boyko holds a 2-4-2 mark, 2.86 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage since the start of the 2024-25 campaign. He made 32 saves in his first career AHL start back on Dec. 31, 2024, against Springfield, collecting both his first shutout and victory.
Additionally, the Drumheller, Alberta, native has appeared in 59 contests in the ECHL with Tulsa and Cincinnati, boasting a 33-17-3 record along with a pair of shutouts and .902 save percentage.
Boyko spent five seasons in the WHL with Tri-City and Kelowna from 2018-23, posting a combined 56-67-9 record during the regular season while showing a 1-3-1 mark in six postseason appearances.
The 6-foot-8, 201-pound netminder was originally a fourth-round selection (112th overall) by the New York Rangers in the 2021 NHL Draft.
