POLIN, SHEARY POWER AMERKS TO 7-1 ROUT OF CRUNCH
Forward duo combines for six points in blowout win over Syracuse
Oct 9, 2026Six different skaters recorded multi-point nights as the Rochester Americans (2-0-0-1) cruised to a 7-1 rout over the Syracuse Crunch (1-2-0-0) Friday at Blue Cross Arena.

With the win, Rochester has earned five out of a possible six points to start the campaign and has won three straight games against its divisional rival dating back to last season. The Amerks scored three power-play goals as part of a four-goal surge in the second period to take a 6-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.
Forwards JASON POLIN (2+1) and MATTEO COSTANTINI (1+2) each recorded a career-high three points, while CONOR SHEARY tallied three assists in the victory. TREVOR KUNTAR (1+1) and VSEVOLOD KOMAROV (0+2) each recorded two points, as did former Crunch captain MATTHEW PECA (0+2).
RED SAVAGE, AIDAN McDONOUGH, and CARSON MEYER each scored their first goals of the season, while RILEY FIDDLER-SCHULTZ and JAKE RICHARD both added an assist to round out the scoring.
Goaltender MATT VILLALTA (2-0-1) improved to 2-0-1 through his first three starts of the season with Rochester, stopping 23 of the 24 shots he faced. The veteran netminder has allowed just two goals in 120 minutes of action in the Flower City while posting a .967 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average.
Brendan Furry scored Syracuse’s lone goal in the second period, assisted by Dylan Duke and Jarred Tinordi.
Olivier Rodrigue (0-2-0) and Mads Søgaard split the goaltending duties. Rodrigue made 13 saves over the first two periods, while Søgaard stopped 10 shots in the final 20 minutes of regulation.
The Amerks, who finished 3-for-7 on the man-advantage, stormed out to a 3-0 lead before scoring four straight unanswered goals to pick up their second straight win on home ice.
UP NEXT
The Amerks begin a three-game road trip om Saturday, Oct. 10, with the first of five meetings this season against the Utica Comets. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. at NBT Bank Arena.
