AHL ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR 2021 PLAYOFFS, START DATE FOR 2021-22 SEASON

HIGH SCHOOL GAME OF THE WEEK: PORTSIDE ROYALS VS. PITTSFORD PANTHERS

Both teams enter with three wins and one regulation loss in the 2022-23 Section V season

Over the next several weeks, the Rochester Americans will be front and center on the local high school hockey scene as part of a weekly series that will feature the latest news and notes, scores and stats of select Section V games around the Greater Rochester Area.

This week’s High School Game of the Week features the Pittsford Panthers (3-1-1) facing off against the Portside Royals (3-1-0) tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Bill Gray's Iceplex.

Pittsford enters the contest having split last week’s games with a win and loss and a 3-1-1 overall through the first five games of the campaign. Of their 13 remaining games following tonight, the Panthers will be play as home team eight more times and have six total divisional games.

With six goals, six assists and 12 points, all of which top all Pittford skaters, senior Will Masachi has fueled the offense while fellow classmate Lucas Procious remains close behind (4+5) with nine points.

Aden Brown has handled all the goaltending duties through the first six games of the season as he shows a 3-1-1 mark to goal with a 1.57 goals-against average and .930 save percentage.

Portside Royals comes into the matchup winners of three straight and outscoring its opposition 15-6 after dropping a 5-1 contest to start the campaign. Of the club’s final 15 contests of the season, they will welcome visiting teams to Tuttle Ice Arena in Brockport 10 times, including four of its last five games.

Through four games this season, Portside Royals have scored 16 goals, eight of which of been tallied by seniors Sal Balbi, Frank Grad and Henry Schultz. Of the 21 skaters that have dressed in at least one game, 16 have totaled one point while 10 have found the scoresheet by the way of a goal.

Netminders Danny Kucmerowski (2-1-0) and Liam Bischoping (1-0-0) has shared the crease this season through the first four games of the slate.

Following the matchup, Portside Royals returns home as they welcome Aquinas Institute to Tuttle Ice Arena for a noon faceoff on Saturday, Dec. 17 while Pittsford host Greece Storm at Bill Gray’s Iceplex for a 6:00 p.m. tilt on Thursday, Dec. 15.
