This week's Game of the Week features a cross-town showdown between the Webster Schroeder Warriors and Webster Thomas Titans

Nov 29, 2022

Over the next several weeks, the Rochester Americans will be front and center on the local high school hockey scene as part of a weekly series that will feature the latest news and notes, scores and stats of select Section V games around the Greater Rochester Area.

This week’s High School Game of the Week features the battle of Webster as the Schroeder Warriors take on the cross-town rival Thomas Titans tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Lakeshore Ice Arena.

The Warriors will host Thousand Island and Ogdensburg Free Academy on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 as well as face Greece Storm, Fairport, Spartan Ice Hockey, Victor Central, Brighton/HFL, McQuaid Jesuit (twice), Portside, and Penfield before closing out the regular season against Orchard Park on Feb. 7.

The Warriors, who showed a 9-10-1 record in 2021-22, had two games where they scored double digits in goals and 12 games overall where they posted three or more goals. Despite two different three-game losing skids, the club only lost back-to-back games one other time and went 3-2-1 in their final six contests of the campaign.

Eight of the 20 games will feature divisional opponents, which includes five following the turn of New Year. The Titans will conclude the regular season by serving as the away team in four of their final five games and all five will be played at different venues.

During Webster Thomas’ run to the Section title last season, the Titans outscored their opponents 99-43 and allowed three goals or less in all but six games. The team scored five or more goals in seven contests and posted two shutouts. Webster Thomas, who went 14-3-2 during the regular season, eventually fell 2-1 to Pelham, the eventual D2 New York State Champions.

Following Tuesday’s showdown, Webster Thomas heads to Northtown Center at Amherst for an opponent to be determined at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 while Webster Schroeder travels to Ogdensburg Free Academy for a 7:00 p.m. face-off with Thousand Island on Friday, Dec. 2.
