BACK FROM INJURY, BIRO PICKING UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF

Rochester Americans forward Brandon Biro made his return to the lineup last week after missing six games with a lower-body injury. Despite the games he missed, the third-year pro picked up right where he left off with a two-goal effort against the Cleveland Monsters in his second game back.

“He’s just playing such good hockey, so that coming back in, it was like he had never left,” said Amerks head coach Seth Appert when asked how Biro’s game this season prior to the injury set him up for a seamless return to the lineup.

Along with his first multi-goal effort of the 2022-23 campaign, Biro has gone on to post three points over his last three games and hasn’t gone more than one game all year without recording a point. Additionally, Biro leads the Amerks roster with five multi-point efforts on the season.

“I feel pretty good,” said Biro when asked how he felt after returning to play. “I think every time you come back from injury it bugs you a little bit, but after being out a few times I now know what to think about, what to focus on and just to worry about playing how I want to play.”

The Amerks forward truly picked up where he left off last season with 10 assists and 15 points through his first 15 games in 2022-23, and dating back to last season, Biro has totaled 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists over his last 18 games.

“He's (Biro) so committed to his style of play right now,” Appert said. “He's just playing hard. He's attacking the game. He's not letting the game come to him. He's attacking the game and he's dictating the game, and he has a lot of confidence, physically, and with the puck. So, he just stepped right back in, and he looked like he left before he left.”

Biro looks to continue his torrid start to the season tonight as the Amerks hold host to the Utica Comets at The Blue Cross Arena.

Tonight marks the fifth matchup of the season between the clubs with puck drop slated for 7:05 p.m. and will be carried live on The Sports Leader 95.7 FM/950 AM The Fan Rochester as well as AHLTV. The contest can also be viewed live locally on CW Rochester.
