AMERKS RE-SIGN FOURSOME TO AHL CONTRACTS

Warren, Slaggert and Laaouan return on multi-year deals; Joshua agrees to one-year contract to remain in Rochester

Rochester Americans General Manager Jason Karmanos announced today that the team has re-signed forwards Brendan Warren and Graham Slaggert, and defensemen Noah Laaouan all to two-year American Hockey League contracts. Additionally, forward Jagger Joshua has re-signed a one-year deal with the Amerks after being acquired by Rochester midseason.

Warren, 28, returns to the organization for his sixth season after establishing AHL career-highs in goals (9), assists (9), and points (18) in 58 games in 2024-25. He also notched a pair of goals during Rochester’s postseason run to the North Division Finals.

 

Since making his Amerk debut ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, the 6-foot-0, 194-pound forward has produced 43 points on 25 goals and 18 assists in 195 regular-season contests while registering 212 shots. Additionally, in 18 playoff games, all with Rochester, the Carleton, Michigan, native has tallied seven points (3+4).

 

Prior to turning pro, Warren completed a four-year collegiate career at the University of Michigan (NCAA), where he registered 45 points (18+27) in 149 games with the Wolverines from 2015 to 2019. As a freshman, Warren helped the maize and blue claim the Big-10 Conference Championship while skating in all 38 games and registering 17 points (5+12).

 

Warren was originally drafted in the third round (81st overall) by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Slaggert, 26, returns to the organization after posting career-highs in goals (12), assists (12) and points (24) in 69 games with Rochester in 2024-25. Slaggert also tied for first in the AHL with five shorthanded tallies, becoming the first Amerk since Viktor Gordiouk in 1994-95 to do so in a season.

 

A native South Bend, Indiana, Slaggert has produced 24 goals and 22 assists in 180 games at the AHL level with Rochester and Toronto since the start of the 2021-22 season while also notching two points (0+2) in 14 playoff contests.

 

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-0, 195-pound forward completed a four-year collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame, where he registered 27 goals and 42 assists in 143 games for the Irish. He also helped the program capture the NCAA Big Ten Tournament championship in 2018-19.

 

As a senior with the Irish, he established a career-high in goals (12) while posting his second straight 25-point season. In addition to serving as team captain, he was named to the NCAA Albany All-Regional and Academic All-Big-Ten Teams.

 

Before his time at Notre Dame, Slaggert totaled 19 points in 61 career games for the United States National Team Development program.

 

After helping the U-18 team win a goal medal in 2016-17, he spent the following year with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders, recording 37 points (17+20) in 53 games.

Laaouan, 24, returns to the organization after leading all Jacksonville Icemen (ECHL) in assists (36) and points (44) over a 67-game slate this past season. The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native ranked ninth in assists and 12th in points, respectively, amongst all ECHL blueliners.

 

The 6-foot-0, 184-pound defenseman also appeared in one game with the Amerks during the 2024-25 campaign, at 3-2 win at Lehigh Valley on Jan. 18.

 

Laaouan, who was acquired during the 2023-24 season, has skated in seven AHL games with Rochester and Tucson, notching four assists while compiling 81 points (18+63) in 169 contests at the ECHL level with Jacksonville, Trois-Rivières, and Atlanta.

 

Prior to turning pro, Laaouan spent five seasons in the QMJHL between Cape Breton and Charlottetown, logging 31 goals and 134 assists in 165 games from 2017-22. He also registered 19 points (4+15) in 32 postseason contests.

Joshua, 26, returns to the organization for his first full season after being acquired from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Jan. 3. The Dearborn, Michigan, native combined to post six points (1+5) and 78 penalty minutes in 28 games between the Penguins and Amerks during the regular season.

 

Since the start of the 2022-23 campaign, Joshua has skated in 98 regular season contests with the two AHL clubs, netting 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points while amassing 186 penalty minutes. Additionally, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward appeared in two Calder Cup Playoff contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton during the 2024 postseason.

 

Before turning pro, Joshua amassed 44 points (21+23) over 135 career collegiate games at Michigan State University from 2019-2023. During his final season at East Lansing, Joshua topped the club with a career-high 13 goals while finishing fourth amongst all Spartans with 24 points in 37 games.
