Ben Walter (1+1) and Joe Piskula (0+2) each chipped in a pair of points for Abbotsford, while Krys Kolanos, Akim Aliu and Guillaume Desbiens also found the back of the net in the winning effort. Netminder Danny Taylor stopped all 17 shots fired his way to earn his fourth shutout of the season.
David Leggio finished with 29 saves between the pipes for Rochester in what was his 17th straight start for the Amerks, who have now lost four straight.
The Heat took a quick 1-0 lead just 1:17 into the opening period when Walter tallied his 17th goal of the season. After a Brian Connelly wrister from the point was turned away by Leggio, Walter banked in the rebound off the Rochester netminder and across the goal-line for what proved to be the game-winner.
Abbotsford doubled its advantage to 2-0 at the 16:05 mark of the first, as Aliu was the recipient of a feed from Walter in the slot and deposited a backhander behind Leggio.
The Heat extended its cushion to 3-0 exactly nine minutes into the middle frame, capitalizing off a turnover by the Amerks in the defensive zone. Immediately following a faceoff, Kolanos pounced on the errant pass and netted a backhander from the bottom of the right circle.
After taking a drop pass from Paul Byron just inside the offensive blueline, Desbiens scored Abbotsford’s fourth goal of the night on a slapper from the left-point at 6:18 of the third period.
