Buffalo Sabres’ third-round selection (75th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Signed a three-year, entry-level NHL contract with Buffalo on December 15, 2011.

Totaled 75 points (26+49), including a career-best 26 goals, in 58 combined WHL appearances with the Victoria Royals and Brandon Wheat Kings… Notched 64 points (22+42) and 51 PIM in 40 games with Victoria before a midseason trade to Brandon… Recorded 11 points on four goals and seven assists in 18 games with the Wheat Kings to close out the regular season… Finished the campaign third in assists, tied for fourth in goals and ranked fourth in overall scoring among Brandon skaters… Collected 26 of his 49 assists on the power-play, good enough for 12th among league leaders…  Led the team with 32 power-play points (6+32) while averaging 1.29 points per game
