The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled defenseman Brayden McNabb from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also announced several other roster moves: Forward Johan Larsson and defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen have been assigned to the Americans; Forward Mikhail Grigorenko has been loaned to the Quebec Remparts (QMJHL) and forward Cody Hodgson has been activated from IR.
In addition, the Amerks announced today that the team has signed defensemen Ryan Grimshaw and Chris Reed to professional tryout contracts.
Grimshaw, a 23-year-old native of Rochester, has appeared in 31 games with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays this season, recording seven points (1+6) and 23 penalty minutes. Last season, he played in 16 games for the Toronto Marlies (AHL) and 23 contests with the Trenton Titans (ECHL), where he registered six points (3+3) and four penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 200-pound Grimshaw played in three regular season games and three playoff games for the Amerks during the 2011-12 season. Prior to his professional career, Grimshaw played four seasons at Harvard University.
Reed, 26, has played in 26 ECHL games this season with the Cincinnati Cyclones , recording six assists and four penalty minutes. Last season, he collected 18 points (1+17) and 18 penalty minutes in 59 games with the Cyclones. He also played in a total of eight AHL games last year with Springfield, Houston and Lake Erie. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound native of Solon, Ohio, has played in 118 career ECHL games with Cincinnati, collecting 30 points (2+28) and 34 penalty minutes. Prior to his professional career, Reed played four seasons at Ohio State University.
