The Rochester Americans announced that registration for the 2012 Amerks Summer Hockey Camp is now open. The Amerks Summer Camps, which take place in August, offer on-ice hockey instruction from professional coaches and players for kids ages 5-14 at all different skill levels.
Current Amerks Assistant Coach Chadd Cassidy, who spent the previous five seasons as a coach with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) and won multiple medals in international competition, and Amerks Development Coach Chris Taylor, one of the top scorers in franchise history who recently retired from a 19-year professional playing career, will serve as the head instructors for this year’s camp and be joined by a host of other staff members and instructors.
The Amerks Summer Hockey Camp offers children an experience that no other camp can – the opportunity to meet, interact and learn the game of hockey from current and former Amerks playing in the American Hockey League and National Hockey League.
“The Amerks are proud to once again partner with Rochester Youth Camps to provide a high-quality hockey learning experience for area youth players this summer,” said Amerks Vice President of Business Operations Rob Kopacz. “The camps provide a great opportunity for youth players to improve and have fun at the same time during the summer months.”
“I am excited to once again work with the Amerks and the youth hockey community in Rochester,” said Camp Founder and Organizer Jason Cipolla, a former player and assistant coach with the Amerks. “I am also pleased that Chadd Cassidy and Chris Taylor have joined the camp as head instructors. Both coaches have a wealth of knowledge and great ability to teach young hockey players the game.”
The instructors will emphasize skill development while taking time to teach players and will help campers learn to enjoy the game through a variety of fun and challenging drills that can also be applied to game situations.
